Introduction
Carved out by Planet Earth’s last Ice Age, Jølster and the surrounding area is a magical place comprising of majestic mountains, lush valleys, deep fjords, sparkling clear rivers and spectacular glaciers.
Jølster Base Camp is the ideal place to escape the madding crowd, and the routines and rigours of everyday life. It’s also a wonderful to place to relax, reflect and gain inspiration. Moreover, the opportunities for outdoor pursuits are virtually endless, and only limited by one’s own imagination.
To make the most of your visit, and to have a chance to really explore and get acquainted with the area, then we’d suggest spending a minimum of four or five nights here, possibly longer if time permits.

If you’re a hiker or rambler, a landscape photographer or artist, a cyclists, a climber, a fan of water sports such as canoeing or rafting, for example, a golfer or a skier then you’re going to be in for a real treat. And let’s not also forget to mention the fishing opportunities, of which there are many. There are some great fishing spots on “Jølstravatnet”, and it’s also possible to fish on the rivers and up in the mountains too. In order to fish here then you will require a fishing card, which can be purchased either online or locally.

Thon Partner Hotel Jølster is situated in scenic natural surroundings, on the northern shore of beautiful lake Jølstravatnet, midway between Bergen and Ålesund. The hotel is within easy reach of the region’s most spectacular and famous tourist attractions.
Our guests come from all of the world, and from different walks of life: Corporations use our services for conferencing, corporate wellness, team-building and product launch events etc. We also cater for many different types of tourist including, for example, people who are simply passing through and are looking to stay with us for one or two nights. In addition, we also provide a complete holiday package where people stay with us for an extended period of time (usually 4 or 5 nights). During this time, they can experience the very best of what Jølster has to offer.
How to get to the Jølster Base Camp
By Car
The closest airport to the Thon Partner Hotel Jølster is Sandane (SDN), which is approximately 35 minutes drive away. We have provided the precise GPS coordinates below. To view the route simply click the “Calculate” button.
If you are planning on coming from any other destination, e.g. Bergen etc., then simply insert this into the “From” box, and re-calculate the route.
Another option is FØRDE AIRPORT (FDE), which is only 1 hours drive away.
BY bus
There is a regular bus service from Sandane airport. The service is operated by SKYSS who are responsible for public bus, light rail, boat and ferry services in Vestland county.
